Icon™ IPL Facial

Undo years of sun damage and reveal a flawless complexion

About the Icon IPL Facial

We love the sun, but prolonged exposure takes a toll on our skin over time. After years of unprotected sun exposure, you begin to develop brown spots, freckles, and sun spots. You may also notice visible blood vessels around your nose or redness on your cheeks. But just a few quick Icon sessions will leave you with a youthful, even complexion. The Icon IPL facial eliminates or reduces uneven pigment on the face, chest or hands, including:

  • Signs of sun damage like freckles or dark spots
  • Hyperpigmentation such as birthmarks
  • Spider veins or broken blood vessels
  • Redness or rosacea

How it Works

Icon is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment, which uses light with special filters optimized to treat the skin without harming it. The specialized light pulses are delivered into the skin and target damaged skin cells. They are destroyed by the light energy and gradually filtered out by your body’s natural healing processes, which will look like this:

  • Uneven pigment and dark spots will gradually darken for several days before crusting over and flaking off after 1-3 weeks.
  • Visible blood vessels will undergo immediate graying or blanching, or turn red or purple, fading in 1-2 weeks.

What to Expect

Depending on the size of the area being treated, sessions typically take less than 30 minutes. The provider guides the Icon hand piece over the treatment area, delivering the IPL into the skin. You may feel nothing during treatment or mild discomfort, like the feeling of a rubber band snapping on the skin followed by a warm sensation. You may also experience some redness or swelling a few days after at the treatment site but this typically resolves by the third day. IPL causes photosensitivity, or heightened sensitivity to the sun, and you must avoid sun exposure and use a sunscreen after treatment.
